Falconry.

On the subject of sea Gulls and their cheek in swooping and taking peoples food out of their hands a friend of the blog wrote this elsewhere, it tickled me to read her defence of the use of birds of prey.

"Of course we could always challenge Phil Rafferty and his merry men (one in a pram) to walk from Upper Mostyn Street to Bog Island with a bag of Chips and an Ice Cream and see how many times they are attacked by the Seagulls.

The next day I will go and do the same mission with Falconry Services across the road. I Promise I will.
Then they can tell us again the initiative doesn't work!"!

Another blast from the past.

Another name from the past now gone, used to be by the main post office in Llandudno.
I seem to remember it selling organs and pianos and other musical instruments.
It was inevitable I suppose that we would see a further extension of the counties recycling schemes.
How on earth will people in flats cope, as has been asked here elsewhere?
I can also see further use of  street bins being used to fill up with people's domestic waste, this is already the case in many areas, you see a person by a public bin, they will look around, see that the coast is clear and then put a plastic carrier bag in the bin.
There is no easy answer as we can not carry on using ground fill  indefinitely.

Cheeky Gnome.

I have never been allowed to have even a single Gnome in the garden, why I can not get a reasonable explanation for, but I love their cheek.
When I saw this picture it made me realise how many there were years ago in gardens but yet one rarely sees them these days.
They have always brought a smile to my face.
This one in particular makes me smile!

Threats.

As a result of threatening e mails involving a third party and friend of the blog certain posts have been withdrawn. Many people have sent in photos to this blog and many more have contributed to the blog but there are indeed dark forces at work in North Wales at present intent on closing down or at the very least gaging the blog.
Persons, plural have been approached today and that's not fair on them or others.

I have no wish to implicate anyone else in this blog.
*
I have NOT deleted these posts or comments, they are merely withdrawn from public view for now, subtle difference.

Two Comments Regarding Ysgol Aberconwy.

"I note tha conwy council have never published table how the schools in Conwy are preforming compared with the rest of Wales ?

Where did Aberconwy school come in the whole of Wales ...

Second ,,, WOW second

YES... SECOND FROM BOTTOM..

No doubt this as absolutely nothing to do with Conwy Concil Starving it of Cash

But Conwy council will tell you the table do not reflect a true situation

O REALLY "
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"below is the recommendation by Estyn in 2006 for improvements to ysgol Aberconwy

In order to continue to raise standards the school should:

R1: improve examination results;

R2: improve the effectiveness of guidelines and strategies for dealing with those pupils who disrupt lessons;

R3: ensure that school policies and procedures are applied rigorously and consistently across all areas of the school;

R4: continue to develop key skills across the curriculum;

R5: continue the work to improve attendance; and

R6: meet statutory requirements for the content of the School Prospectus and the Annual Report to Parents.

One Key Issues from the September 2000 inspection report has not been fully resolved. It therefore remains a Key Issue to be addressed by the school:

Conwy Council had ample opportunity to pull this school up In fact 5 YEARS ..
In that five years the school has been allowed to slip to NEXT TO Bottom in Wales
WELL DONE
There may well be a case for the pupils to claim against the council and the councilors for knowingly letting the schools fail "

Rents.

"Hi Oscar

I thought you would like this one,my daughter has just been given

a cheque for £30-00 by conwy council for paying her rent on time all year.

Do they have to bribe people now.

Theory v. reality

Theory v. reality

A small boy has a school home work question to answer, so he asks his father "Hey Dad, what ' s the difference between ' theoretically ' and ' realistically ' ?"
His Dad thinks for a while and then says "Right-o son.....go and ask your mother if she ' d sleep with David Beckham for a million quid."

The boy trots off and comes back saying "Dad, Dad, she said she would! She would sleep with David Beckham for a million pounds."

"OK son," says his dad. "Now go and ask your sister the same question."
The boy toddles off, and comes back saying "Dad, Dad, she said she would too!"

So then his dad says "Right, son, now go and ask your elder brother if he ' d sleep with David Beckham for a million pounds."

The son comes back excitedly saying "Dad! Dad! He said he would too!"

"Well there you have it, son," said his dad. Theoretically we could be sitting on three million quid. Realistically we ' re living with two tarts and a poof."

What's With This?

Whats with all the work going on around the Liverpool Arms on the Quay in Conwy?

Blogger Arrested!

The powers that be seem very intent on silencing free speech these days, hence the twitter judgement, now this.
They need to go to the source of the discontent not the messenger.
Shoot the messenger seems to be the action of the day.

New Cafe.

A new cafe is sheduled to open this week on Mostyn Broadway coach park,
a big improvement on the last one which was more of a portacabin.
Work done by the phoenix from the ashes builders EH Grifiths, hence what looks like the previous companies van.

Early Bird Catches The Worm.

Sometimes one can have so much to do it's jusT to add a couple of hours to one's day, so today that's what I've done, got up at 4:30 made a nice mug of tea and opened the briefcase and have got on with some paperwork.
It's a great time of day, me him and the peace and quiet with guarantee of no phone going to ring to interrupt ones change of thought.
Already comments coming in on the blog, so I'm not the only bird after the worm today!

Poundstretcher,

Great to see that the old Woolworth on Mostyn Street Llandudno is going to be a Poundstretcher.
No doubt the numbty councillors will be now quoted as saying what great news it is to.
No thanks to them I say!

Hunger Strike.

“Everything has been taken away from me, I’ve got nothing left other than me. So I’m fighting with what I’ve got left. If Conwy want martyrdom I’ll give them martyrdom.”

One has to feel a little sorry for Steve Hunt, the stress of all this could kill him, on the face of it the Council made him bankrupt for 5 Thousand pounds whilst others owe the council far more than that and yet more are bankrupt in the region for their own benefit and yet still live a life more akin to the well off, driving vehicles with personalised number plates and enjoying the perks of business such as healthy contracts with the likes of North Wales police amongst others.
He may have got many things wrong, but at least he was and is trying.
There are far worse people than Steve Hunt trading in the area having had multiple bankruptcies.

Two nuns, Sister Catherine and Sister Helen, are traveling through Europe in their car. They get to Transylvania and are stopped at a traffic light. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a tiny little Dracula jumps onto the hood of the car and hisses through the windshield.
"Quick, quick!" shouts Sister Catherine. "What shall we do?"

"Turn the windshield wipers on. That will get rid of the abomination," says Sister Helen.

Sister Catherine switches them on, knocking Dracula about, but he clings on and continues hissing at the nuns.

"What shall I do now?" she shouts.

"Switch on the windshield washer. I filled it up with Holy Water at the Vatican ," says Sister Helen. Sister Catherine turns on the windshield washer. Dracula screams as the water burns his skin, but he clings on and continues hissing at the nuns.

"Now what?" shouts Sister Catherine.

"Show him your cross," says Sister Helen.

"Now you're talking," says Sister Catherine.

She opens the window and shouts, "Get the fuck off the car!"
Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, "It might have been."
--John Greenleaf Whittier

It is impossible to relive my past. I can only create a good past now by living this day the best way I can, so that tomorrow I can look back without having to say "It might have been."

Everything is OK in Hyde Park (Speakers Corner)

Set aside a few minutes to see how some of the police work.

Pathetic.

I said at the time that the good people of Clwyd West would be better not having a snide man such as Llyr Huws Gruffydd as their MP last year.
It was also obvious to all after the election he would never be selected for either the ARSEmbly of Westminster if he were to rely on a first past the post victory, he therefore had to rely on the regional list to get elected for the ARSEmbly and thus got the North Wales Regional seat.
He is now refusing to attend tomorrows state opening of the Sennedd citing the fact he is a Republican.
I never heard anything of this before, did he state this on any election address of his I wonder?
If elected I shall boycott the state opening would have been the right thing to say would it not?
The man was of little note before this so I suppose it's his chance to have a few minutes of fame, what a way to go about it though?
Pathetic.

"... representatives yet they will not represent the views of those they represent, by their intended actions during the visit by our Queen, the Head of State on Tuesday next. They are regional members for North Wales, South Wales West and South Wales Central respectively, they are all Plaid Cymru members for whom they sit at the Assembly. In each case, were they candidates fighting the traditional "First Past The Post" election in their home constituency they would have been beaten by the Labour Party."

http://mymabinogion.blogspot.com/2011/06/llyr-huws-gruffydd-bethan-jenkins-and.html
"Whatever they do, they will not be at the Assembly representing the electorate of Wales (not sure about Lindsay since Duncan left a comment), but we must be grateful, if this were Bahrain or Persia this disgraceful group would probably be on trial for their dissent, here in Wales the dissenters are free to offend the majority and be paid annually £53,852 it is a shame they do not do their duty as the electorate wish them."

Silly Me!

When someone over on Twitter asked me where I would place a Blue Planet or Multiplex cinema I like a fool responded Parc Llandudno.
I had for that moment in time completely forgotten that Parc Llandudno would never have been if it had not been for Asda bribing the council and Mostyn Estates in the first place.
They built a new school for the council in return for them being allowed to have the old John Bright site.
I am not sure who then bought the old site, I presume Parc Llandudno developers, either way we never got a major tourist attraction did we?
I would imagine that the site would have attracted a far higher premium than the site in Llandudno Junction ever did.
What are the chances now I wonder of there ever been a major attraction coming to Llandudno?
It looks to me as if the horse has already bolted.
