A Greensman's delight.

Well the elections have come and gone for another 4 years, the victors can preen them selves the losers can go and lick their wounds, and maybe come back to fight another day.
That's if some will be still with us next time around, me included!
All has been very quiet at Bodlondeb of late.
What about us though?
What about the things that matter to us?
Look at my beloved West Shore, look how they have let it go.
Councillors Lyon and Boyle need to have a good look and a nice little walk around their ward, Please!

Brother is watching, at least someone is!

Well it had to happen!
I agree with the Chief Constable 100% regarding CCTV.
The paranoia that is spreading is getting to near hysterics in some quarters.

If Colwyn Bay and Llandudno had not received CCTV some years ago now, God only knows how lawless the towns would have become.
For the CCTC operators have been doing a fantastic job across the county, in many cases doing the job that the police used to do over the years.
The Council operators are in many ways unsung hero's of the people.
The one thing that worries me though, if we had not received CCTV, would the police have got away with such lack of presence on the streets?
I can not see they would have.
One thing no one could accuse the chief officers of being is lacking intelligence, they must in their hearts of hearts know how poorly covered we are and how it concerns most of us.
The top officers must have first class heads on them to have achieved their ranks, yet take no notice of the concerns of the majority, he mentions friendships amongst officers and the people on their patches, if that is genuinely the case why move the very same officers from one patch to another, just as they ares supposedly getting the trust of the people?
In his posting he has published a photo that his own officers have taken, his publication blanks out the children's faces for some reason, why not the original that is posted by his officers?
There faces are clear for all to see.

Police Support Officers.

Page 17 of the link below clearly states that Police support officers have no power of arrest, and will not carry incapacitating spray or handcuffs.

How is it that the Police support officers carry hand cuffs in North Wales then?
I have seen them with handcuffs.
It goes on to say they will not be using police vehicles.
It states here that you can only build relationships with people by being accessible to them, that is in response to driving around in police vehicles
Well I know the support officer who has not been seen for a while, he was driving on his own in a police car on many occasions.
NO doubt about it.

Apathy towards politics.

Work, Work, Work

I have spent 2 days away this week, so have not spent any time beside work at the computer.
Next week is looking the same, but no over nighter's unlike this week.
I have just arrived in Manchester, by car, and the journey he was awful, roadworks, delays in both directions, it must be putting thousands of people off coming to North Wales for the day at a cost of thousands of pounds to all types of traders.
In some cases there are miles of cones for only a few yards of actual work to be done.
There really is no wonder young families have abandoned this country for warmer climes.

Crime and Punshment!

Had these from my American friend, not new, but still interesting to read.

USA JAIL - SOME INTERESTING READING

TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO, HE IS THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF ( ARIZONA) AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

These are some of the reasons why:
Sheriff Joe Arpaio created the 'tent city jail' to save Arizona from spending tens of millions of dollars on another expensive prison complex.

He has jail meals down to 20 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He banned smoking and pornographic magazines in the jails, and took away their weightlifting equipment and cut off all but 'G' movies.
He says: 'They're in jail to pay a debt to society not to build muscles so they can assault innocent people when they leave.'
He started chain gangs to use the inmates to do free work on county and city projects and save taxpayer's money.
Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.
He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails.
So he hooked up the cable TV again but only allows the Disney channel and the weather channel.
When asked why the weather channel, he replied: 'So these morons will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.'He cut off coffee because it has zero nutritional value and is therefore a waste of taxpayer money. When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This isn't the Ritz/Carlton.

If you don't like it, don't come back.'He also bought the Newt Gingrich lecture series on US history that he pipes into the jails.

When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series that actually tells the truth for a change would be welcome and that it might even explain why 95% of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record for June 2nd 2007), the Associated Press reported: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed wire surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.

On the Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing pink boxer shorts were overheard chatting in the tents, where temperatures reached 128 degrees.'This is hell. It feels like we live in a furnace,' said Ernesto Gonzales, an inmate for 2 years with 10 more to go. 'It's inhumane.'Joe Arpaio, who makes his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic.
'Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for parole, only to go out and commit more crimes so they can come back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things many taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.'The same day he told all the inmates who were complaining of the heat in the tents: 'It's between 120 to 130 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to walk all day in the sun, wearing full battle gear and get shot at, and they have not committed any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!'
Way to go, Sheriff!

If all prisons were like yours there would be a lot less crime and we would not be in the current position of running out of prison spaces.

Magic Roundabouts!

Advert Consent

Roundabout Adjacent to Tesco's Entrance, Llandudno Junction, Conwy
Display of 4 no. Non-illuminated Free Standing Post-mounted Advertisment
Advert Consent "
Interesting to note that there is an application for advertising consent on the Tesco roundabout, wonder if the advert is for Asda?

It is down for the planning committee to deliberate over, big stuff!

On a more serious note, many of these adverts for " lock stock" and others, and have sprung up over the last couple of years.
When and how was it decided to allow these in the first place?
Who decided who would be the advertisers and the price?
I know many business's that would have been interested had they been given a chance to advertise in such prime locations.
Can anyone now propose tp put something on council owned land?
Can we all try it on and try and get in on the act?
It is a bit like Frank Gorka trying to get permission to convert the old bus shelter on the West Shore in Llandudno, it's not his to start with, so how have we got to this?
Are the council getting the best deals possible for us?
More importantly do we need them on busy roundabouts at all?
I think the last question is debatable .

SomeThing Fishy.

photo, Oscar!
I have received an e mail from google, they being the host of "thoughts of oscar" blog.
I have not a clue who would want to log into my blog account, but some one has, if this were a financial account, I am sure it would have very serious legal implications, similar to the comments I have on electronic file.
For they tried to log in using an incorrect password, I do not know how many times they tried, but try they did.
I have also received an e mail from some one , attaching a thoughts of oscar page, stating oscar has closed down.
The host blog being associated with the name eagle and ferret.
You all may draw your own conclusions from this posting.
I, like you am sure finding this irritation tiresome, bit like having piles I imagine.
Is this the sort of behaviour several local bodies have had to put up with I wonder?
It appears so.

How da ya like your eggs?

Notice the offer is only on until 11.30 am.
Does this not typify the way us Brits have gone as a nation?
.
This Government on one hand has been accused of treating us a Nanny state, yet When it comes to the relaxation of the drink laws it has become a free for all.
I had to go to Bangor early last week, and as I walked past a pub there were 5 people waiting for it to open, each of them looking like death, waiting for what I believe in their terms is an eye opener, this was just about 9 in the morning.
Have people never thought that the vulnerable in society need protecting?
I could go on, but to be honest feel a little tired and also what is the point sometimes of mentioning things like this, perhaps it is only me, but I can not stand the sight of seeing these yobs walking around with cases of beer at all times of the day.
This country is a time bomb in more ways than one.
Sometimes things have gone too far to be remedied, and with all of my heart I believe this country is , if it has not already, getting to this point.
I would not want to be the next Prime Minister for all the tea in China.
No sir.

Scrumpy Pete!

One of the things I liked when we moved to this house, were the apple trees, we have about a dozen of them, each year for the last ten years or so, come Autumn my brother comes and collects them to turn into his home made scrumpy, horrible stuff, but I have always had great pleasure watching the apples grow.
Every evening , rain or shine, I walk around the the garden, even if I do not get back until late.
It sort of brings life back into perspective.
Only last week I was looking at the trees and noticed how many what I call baby apples there were on the trees, hundreds!
Well not any more , they are all over the floor, it was so windy yesterday, most seem to have come of the trees.
I am really cheesed off now, but at least the rain did the rest of the garden good.
Every cloud eh?
It adds a whole new dimension to not counting your chicks till they are hatched.
Wonder what that expression is in apple terms.

In Good Company.

Cllr Jason Weyman, subject of the previous post, has already received a couple of snide comments, also a few supportive comments.
The snide ones are very much in a party political tone.
A dissatisfied sitting councillor of the opposition party?
His Blog and honesty seems to be a first for a sitting councillor in more ways than one.
Good job he and I, are not living on the Italian island of Sicily, if you know what I mean!

One to watch!

What a start to life as a county councilor Jason Weyman is having.

He is already saying what many of us mere mortals have been thinking for a long time.

If he were a horse running his maiden race, I may well put a few pounds on him for any future race.

And I don't even gamble!
